Glucocorticoids are the main drugs used in the treatment of inflammatory, autoimmune and allergic skin diseases. However, they are not always effective and have a number of side effects, requiring a risk/benefit analysis of the use of these drugs. Another concern related to its use is to ensure that application to the skin does not reach the bloodstream, thus avoiding pharmacological, adverse and toxic effects in other regions of the body. Systems such as the one proposed by this new technology are presented as an extremely interesting solution, since they increase the permanence of the drug on the surface of the skin, preventing the problems presented occur.
This new technology is able to increase the residence time of glucocorticoids on the surface of the skin and improve its therapeutic effect, thus facilitating the treatment of inflammatory, autoimmune and allergic skin diseases. In addition, the developed system is easily transposed to scale, which is extremely important for the pharmaceutical industry.
