A wide range of acrylic adhesives can be manufactured through the application of ultraviolet light or heat. studies have indicated that, in the traditional process, the esterification step requires the use of solvents and many hours of reaction. this has led to new studies aimed at devising alternative processes that involve lower input costs and faster production time.

This newly developed process uses low cost reagents, enables synthesis in a matter of minutes, and does not involve the use of any organic solvent. moreover, the process is energy efficient, fast, clean and effective and is based entirely on the concepts of green chemistry. the technology can be used in the production of adhesives for plastics, glass, metals, ceramics, waterproofing and coatings.
