A basic design for harvesting and using rainwater today consists of rain gutters and downspouts, coarse filter material, installation of water pipes, storage tank, water pump, water lifting pipe, elevated water storage tank, and distribution for different uses in a building. there is a paucity of equipment that combines the functions of water cleaning, chlorination, decantation, transfer to the storage tank and subsequent elevation by coupled pump, with distribution sized for different areas of collection and buildings with varied water consumption levels.
This new technology combines all the stages of water treatment and distribution and conserves potable water for more noble purposes, proposing the use of rainwater for purposes that do not require potability, such as toilet flushing, irrigation, cleaning, etc. the newly developed apparatus enables water to be treated as specified by the brazilian technical standard nbr 15527 (2007), and to be distributed as needed in a building, proposing a solution to remediate water shortages and providing savings in users water bills.
